President, Prime Minister extend best wishes on 8th Constitution Day

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the Constitution of Nepal has united the Nepali society in a thread of broader national unity. In a message today on the occasion of Constitution Day, President Bhandari has paid a heartfelt tribute to all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the republic. She has offered respect to all the seniors for guiding to laying the foundation for democratic system in the country. She has also expressed her best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of Constitution Day and National Day, 2079 BS President Bhandari said we are observing Constitution Day and National Day to commemorate and pay respect to the historical achievement of promulgation of federal democratic republic, which was the result of Nepali citizens' decades-long struggle and sacrifice. The incumbent constitution has united the diverse Nepali society in a thread of broader national unity while ending all sorts of discrimination and suppressions created by the centralized and unitary state system. The President has stressed for equal access to all citizens in the services and facilities to be provided by the state while implementing all the fundamental rights that are ensured by the constitution. She has also expressed the confidence that all state bodies would play neutral and justifiable roles in the implementation of the constitution. Likewise, President Bhandari has appealed to the voters to use their sovereign franchise by actively taking part in the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and provincial assembly slated for coming November 20. On the occasion, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has asserted that the Constitution of Nepal has contributed in building a Nepali society that is diverse ethnically, linguistically, religiously, culturally and geographically thereby unifying all the Nepalis. In a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 8th Constitution Day and National Day, Prime Minister Deuba further said that the national charter, as per the people's aspirations, had put an end to discrimination, prejudices, oppression and social anomalies prevailing in the Nepali society in the past. Extending best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion, Deuba has extended tributes and high regards to all known and unknown martyrs scarifying their lives while contributing to democratic movements in the country over different periods of time. Deuba, also President of the ruling Nepali Congress, said that the constitution promulgated on September 20, 2015, under the leadership of Nepali Congress and in full support and contribution of the Nepali people was a historic and important achievement for the democratic movements spearheaded over various period of time. Taking into thought those bearing physical, economic and psychological loss to earn this achievement, the Head of the Government said "Nepali Congress is ever committed and active to further consolidate federal democratic republic system and to safeguard the constitution as well as to comply it. Furthermore, he said that the present government had successfully conducted election at local level this year and expressed his confidence that the upcoming November 20 House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly election would establish everyone's rights and constitutionally guarantee universal human rights and democratic values. PM Deuba was hopeful to receive all Nepalis' support and endorsement to work towards development and prosperity for the country.
