Top six finalists of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2022 announced

KATHMANDU: Glocal has announced the names of the top six finalists for the eighth edition of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2022. This year’s competition received 648 applications from fascinating teenagers demonstrating the diverse potential of their initiation, skills, and expertise, and made an impact in their society, in areas like education, social activism, entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, and health. Aashish Shah (18), Edu- technologist, Dhanusha; Bimarsha Poudel (18), Film Maker, Chitwan; Darshana Rijal (17), Women Rights Activist, Morang); Nischal Singh Bista (18), Ecopreneur, Achham; Rahul Ranjan Shah (18), Astronomy Enthusiast, Dhankuta; and Shrijana Gautam (19), Social Activist, Morang have been selected as the top six finalists to compete for the Glocal Teen Hero title, the only national platform in Nepal to recognise and honour the outstanding teenagers. From the top 20 teenagers and their documents reviewed by the jury panel, the top six finalists were shortlisted for the final round of Glocal Teen Hero Nepal based on initiation, sustainability, and their impact on work. The respected 5-member jury panel had shortlisted these 6 amazing teens (ages 13-19) for their achievements, initiations, and contributions in their respective working fields. The finalist screening was done by a jury panel comprising Adarsh Avasthi, Country Director of the Coca-Cola Company for Nepal; Nona Deprez, Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Nepal; Saurabh Jyoti, Director of Jyoti Group of Companies; Shekhar Golchha, Chairman of Golchha Group and Vidushi Rana, Director of Marketing, Branding and Business Development at Gold Star shoes. The teenagers were chosen based on their applications, résumés, supporting documentation, and essays about their achievements. They were marked on their creativity, accomplishment, effect, and, most importantly, the sustainability of their work. The top six finalists will now undergo a series of Self-Competency Workshops on different topics and will also have the chance to interact with the Top corporate personalities and coaches in the industry to broaden their knowledge. The finalists will be individually interviewed by the panel of judges on September 1. Meanwhile, the SMS voting round has been opened at 6:00 pm on August 19 and will last until 6:00 pm, on August 30. The voting will also contribute to selecting the winner of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal for the year 2022. To vote for the candidate, one's favourite finalist's voting code has to be texted to 33001. The voting codes for the finalists are:

Award Ceremony of the Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2022 will be held on September 1, 2022, in the presence of different personalities of Nepal from different sectors such as diplomats, politicians, academia, filmstars, entrepreneurs, youth leaders and other public figures.
