6th General Convention of AUDAN forms 81-member central committee

KATHMANDU: The Sixth National General Convention of Auditors' Association of Nepal (AUDAN) has formed an 81-member Central Committee under the chairmanship of Kedar Nath Poudel. Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun inaugurated the general convention held in Kathmandu. Speakers at the inauguration programme included Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma Dangal, President of The Institute of  Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), Yuddha Raj Oli, AUDAN Founder President Kamal Kharel and AUDAN President Mohan Raj Regmi. Around 500 representatives and 200 observers of AUDAN from across the country attended the general convention. The closed session of AUDAN also passed the organisational report, financial report and future action plan of the organisation and issued a 19-point declaration. The General Convention elected an 81-member Central Committee under the chairmanship of Poudel for the next three years. Dol Prasad Dahal, First Vice President of AUDAN, informed that Badri Prasad Bhattarai has been elected as Senior Vice President, Abdul Karim Khan as Second Vice President, Jhalakmani Lamsal as Third Vice President. Likewise, province vice presidents elected are Poshraj Nepal (Province 1), Pradeep Kumar Yadav (Madhes), Ramji Prasad Adhikari (Bagmati), Bholanath Pathak (Valley), Bil Bahadur Bhujel (Gandaki), Ramesh KC (Lumbini), Bahadur Singh Bista (Sudurpaschim) and Balram Regmi (Karnali). Similarly, Mira Shrestha has been elected Women Vice President and Prem Bahadur Shrestha as General Secretary. Similarly, Bharat Kumar Shrestha, Rajendra Prasad Dhungana, Ganesh Giri, Hari Bahadur Karki, Jaya Kumari Jha, Sabitri Sharma and Tilak Bahadur Adhikari have been elected as deputy general secretaries. AUDAN's province secretaries elected include Ram Gopal Maharjan (Valley), Mayabade Shrestha (Bagmati), Kamod Jha (Madhes), Shiva Raj Baral (Gandaki) and Chandra Bhakta Shrestha (Valley), Padmaraj Sharma Upadhyaya (Sudurpaschim), Netra Prasad Gyawali (Lumbini), Gokarna Prasad Acharya (Lumbini) Jaya Dharma Pokhrel (Province 1). Balram Chaudhary has been elected as Treasurer and Sunil Acharya as Co-treasurer. Likewise, Surya Narayan Jha, Hiraratna Bajracharya, Atmaram Chapagain, Kumar Prasad Khatiwada, Pushkar Bhurtel, Bhupendra Krishna Shrestha and Poshaka Lal Shrestha have been elected members of the Valley while Ratna Prasad Niraula, Keshav Prasad Gadtaula and Shantiram Khanal are members of Province 1. Among the members elected are Meghraj Poudel, Chandra Mohan Adhikari and Shishir Chandra Gautam, Santosh Kumar Shah, Umesh Mishra and Hem Narayan Lal Dev from Madhes Province. Pushparaj Lohani, Prakash Dhakal, Devi Prasad Dallakoti from Bagmati. Likewise, Govinda Pahadi, Rudra Nath Poudel and Bishnu Prasad Khanal have been elected AUDAN members of Gandaki. Similarly, Narayan Prasad Ghimire, Chandra Kant Bhattarai and Deepak Prasad Regmi are members of Lumbini. AUDAN members of Karnali are Ram Bahadur Shahi, Madan Raj Ojha and Rabindranath Shrestha. Among the nationality members are Uku Lal Maharjan, Binod Kumar Chankhu, Amiralakshmi Tuladhar, Yogmaya Dhamla, Anita Kumari Shrestha, Anita Silwal, Nirmala Shrestha and Maya Kumari Sharma. Prem Kumar Bishwakarma has been elected Dalit member of AUDAN. Similarly, the open members elected are Madhusudan Bhattarai, Laxmi Prasad Pandit, Basant Poudel, Prem Kumar Baral, Bal Krishna Dahal, Lila Bhattarai, Mohammad Zuber Rai, Mitra Prasad Sharma, Laxmi Sapkota, Govinda Khatiwada and Bholanath Sharma. The declaration issued by the Sixth National General Convention of AUDAN urges the government to address the growing budget deficit in the country, all sectors affected by the Covid 19 pandemic and the economic problems. Through the declaration, the convention has demanded immediate removal of provision of Article 127 of the Income-tax Act 2058 (including amendment) to the auditors who submit opinions on financial statements. Further, auditors across the country have been urged to be serious about implementing the various standards of audit and to carry out their work in a manner that enhances the image and dignity of the profession. A provision of Cooperatives Act, 2074 stating that the auditor who is a board member in one of the cooperatives is not allowed to conduct audit in any other cooperative in the country has also violated the constitutional and natural right to conduct business independently, the declaration read. AUDAN members demanded the government and the ICAN amend the law and end all forms of discrimination. READ ALSO:
