Urban Minister Jhakri directs project heads to increase capital expenditure

Kathmandu: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri on Monday directed the project heads under the ministry to increase capital expenditure. She also took stock of the progress of the work from the project head affiliated with the ministry. Minister Jhakri expressed her dissatisfaction over the slow progress and expenditure of the project and directed the project heads to work efficiently and accurately in a visible way. She lamented that there has been no significant progress in capital expenditure despite repeated instructions. According to Minister Jhankri, Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) and High-Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization (HPCIDBC) have not been able to work in a way that the people can feel. [gallery columns="1" size="full" link="file" ids="23835"] On the occasion, Ramesh Prasad Singh, Secretary at the Ministry, directed all the project heads to work actively as the situation of capital expenditure of the projects was not satisfactory. According to Prakirna Tuladhar, joint secretary at the ministry, a total of 36.73% has been spent in the current fiscal year, including 53.39% in the recurrent expenditure and 35.39% in the capital expenditure. He said the expenditure situation of the ministry was not satisfactory in the current fiscal year citing that the expenditure had reached 62% in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Director General of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) Padma Kumar Mainali submitted a report to the Minister stating that the department has made 40% progress. He said the progress of intensive urban programme is 40%, and the DUDBC would bring about 80% work progress by July 29. DUDBC, Town Development Fund, Housing Company, KVDA, HPCIDBC, Federal Parliament Secretariat among other bodies are working under the Ministry. READ ALSO:
