Nepali, Chinese delegations to hold bilateral meet today

KATHMANDU: A bilateral meeting between the Nepali and Chinese delegations led by foreign ministers of Nepal and China is scheduled to take place today, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). Chinese State Councilor and Minister for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi is leading a 19-member delegation. He is on a three-day visit to Nepal at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka. The Chinese Foreign Minister arrived in Kathmandu from the Indian capital city New Delhi on a special aircraft, on Friday. He was welcomed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) by Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi, chief of protocol Durga Bahadur Subedi and high-ranking officials at the MoFA and Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. The visiting Chinese Minister is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba separately on Saturday. According to MoFA. the Chinese Communist leader will also hold separate meetings with former prime ministers — CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
