5,875 active cases of Covid 19 in Nepal: MoHP

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 5,875 active cases of Covid 19 with the addition of 74 new cases on Tuesday. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 977,641. Additionally, 120 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded one death from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,949. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 23 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 16 new cases and Lalitpur logged seven cases while Bhaktapur registered zero new cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 348 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 959,817 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 98.2% while the case fatality rate is at 1.2%. Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 66 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 977,567. In the past 24 hours, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were conducted on 3,638 samples and antigen tests on 2,756 samples. Presently, there are 5,875 persons staying in isolation while 110 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 445.69 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 6.37 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
