MoHP reports 2,922 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday; total rises to 841,297

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thursday reported 2,922 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 841,297. Additionally, 631 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded one death from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,610. Presently, there are 14,340 active cases in Nepal. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 1,916 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 1,449 new cases, Lalitpur logged 317 cases and Bhaktapur logged 150 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 271 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 815,347 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 96.9% while the case fatality rate is at 1.4%. Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday had reported 2,448 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 838375. In the past 24 hours, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were conducted on 10,498 samples and Antigen tests on 4,583 samples. Presently, there are 14,340 persons staying in isolation while 122 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 315.76 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.86 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
