MoHP reports 4,807 new Covid cases on Friday

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 4,807 new cases of coronavirus infection on Friday. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 944,074. Additionally, 2,020 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. The number of total active cases has dropped by 635 to 89,941 in 24 hours. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 10 deaths from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Friday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,697. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 2,940 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 2,153 new cases, Lalitpur logged 519 cases and Bhaktapur logged 268 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 5,432 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Friday, a total of 842,436 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 89.2% while the case fatality rate is at 1.4%. Earlier, the MoHP on Thursday had reported 5,816 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 939,267. RT-PCR and antigen tests have been conducted on 13,791 and 6,078 samples respectively in 24 hours. Presently, there are 89,941 persons staying in isolation while 139 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 364.45 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.98 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
