MoHP reports 5,571 new Covid 19 cases on Wednesday; active cases surpass 90,000

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 5,571 new cases of coronavirus infection on Wednesday. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 933,451. Additionally, 2,883 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. The number of active cases has reached 90,067. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded five deaths from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,672. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 2,900 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 2,041 new cases, Lalitpur logged 566 cases and Bhaktapur logged 293 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 4,433 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, a total of 831,712 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 89.1% while the case fatality rate is at 1.4%. Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday had reported 9,432 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 927,880. RT-PCR and antigen tests have been conducted on 13,549 and 6,810 samples respectively in 24 hours. Presently, there are 90,067 persons staying in isolation while 171 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 357.32 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.96 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
