Safety precaution intensified at Tribhuvan International Airport

KATHMANDU: In the wake of the increasing spread of coronavirus in the country, safety precaution has been intensified at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The visitors to the airports are scrutinised at the very gate while the distribution of passes provided to those welcoming and seeing off the travellers are curtailed except for the case of necessity. Director General at TIA Bhola Prasad Guragain informed that the distribution of passes to the visitors was tightened in order to minimise the risk of coronavirus spread. Crowds of people are normal at TIA,  both at domestic and international terminals. It is partly because of the disruption of flights caused by adverse weather. The morning flights to the airports at hilly districts and some Tarai districts are rescheduled because of the adverse weather. The visitors, employees at TIA are requested and reminded repeatedly to use masks and sanitisers and maintain distancing. Currently, there are 10 helicopters and 19 airlines providing services under the domestic flights while 20 airlines including two Nepali companies are providing international flight service at TIA. According to Guragain, about 300 domestic and around 50 to 60 international flights are operated daily. The TIA is now all set to implement the decision taken by Covid-19 Crisis Management Coordination Centre (CCMCC) on bearing vaccination report card from January 21. The passengers will have to produce the vaccination card at TIA before accessing the boarding pass. In addition, the international passengers need to show Covid 19 test report (negative) issued within 72 hours of departure. By RSS READ ALSO:
