A A- A+
BALEWA: The world's supposedly second longest and the highest sky-cycling on the premises of the Cliff Resort in Kushma of Parbat district has come into operation again for the past few days. The sky-cycling operated by Cliff Pvt Ltd, was launched four years ago but the service had been shut since 2020 due to Covid 19 pandemic. The cycling is operated on a rope suspended in the air at 228 metres above the Kaligandaki River. Raju Karki, Chairperson of Cliff, shared that two people can ride the cycle on the 600-metre route both sides at a time. The bicycles are tied with safety ropes with an attached handle adjusted on the rope like a rail. The resumption of this adventurous sport targets the domestic tourists whose arrival have been increasing lately, said Karki. Adventure seekers can enjoy the sky-cycling for Rs 2,500 per ride while those also willing to do bungee jumping and swing in the vicinity of the sky-cycling can get a discount of up to 20%. The bungee jump in Kushma is claimed to be the second-highest in the world while the first tallest one in the world is from a bridge. The bungee jumping is operated from the bridge that is a 525-metre long suspension bridge and connects Parbat with Baglung district. More and more youths are attracted to adventurous sports in the latter days, said Netra Parajuli, director at the Cliff. A zip line service is also in operation nearby the Cliff Resort. Bharat Poudel, a local from Balewa in Baglung district, opined that adventurous sports such as sky-cycling, bungee jumping, zip line and swing here should also attract foreign adventurous tourists, adding it would help uplift the local economy.
