Norvic Int’l Hospital treats injured Metropolitan Police personnel, KMC employees

KATHMANDU: As many as 34 Metropolitan Police personnel including employees of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), who were injured in a riot, received treatment at Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu. Squatters rioted against the security personnel who had gone to demolish the shanties and infrastructures illegally built in Thapathali area. Security personnel and other employees of KMC sustained injuries as the squatters rioted and pelted them with stones. The injured received treatment at the emergency ward as well as open space on the premises of the hospital due to lack of enough space. The doctors at the hospital reported that some of them sustained critical injuries in the head while others in other parts of the body.KMC Mayor Balendra Shah and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol on Monday evening separately reached the hospital and enquired about the condition of those injured. The hospital's Emergency Incharge and Deputy Medical Director Dr Omar Pradhan briefed Mayor Shah that three of the injured who sustained critical injuries in their head had been kept in observation while 31 others were discharged from the hospital, on Monday. According to Dr Pradhan, the hospital was successful in providing treatment to the injured ones in a short period of time because of the hospital's dynamic service and capability to manage emergency services efficiently. He said the treatment was possible in a short time as the hospital provides treatment by placing the patients in red, green and yellow zones based on their health condition. At the hospital, Mayor Shah also met with the families of those seriously injured who were in observation. Deputy Mayor Dangol who also visited the hospital later openly appreciated the hospital management for providing treatment to the injured. She thanked the medical team involved in the treatment of KMC employees.
