
KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has said the central bank is committed to making arrangements for raw gold and silver according to the needs of the market.
Governor Adhikari said this after meeting with a delegation led by Federation of Nepal Gold & Silver Dealers' Association (FENEGOSIDA) President Manik Ratna Shakya.
During the meeting, representatives of FENEGOSIDA informed the NRB Governor about the current situation of gold and silver in the market, demand and supply system, distribution system of gold, consumption, and recycling of worked gold. Adhikari suggested that issues such as gold import, sales distribution system, banking transactions and the problems that arise in the process can be solved by holding discussions and consultation with the concerned bodies.
On the occasion, FENEGOSIDA officials demanded the central bank make arrangements for businesspersons to import raw gold and silver according to the market demand, change the gold distribution system according to provincial structure, distribute gold based on permanent account number (PAN), make the gold available at transit points, make arrangements for purchasing and paying gold from any banks through a single bank account.
NRB Deputy Governor duo Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Bam Bahadur Mishra, Executive Director Ramu Paudel among other officials of the central bank were present at the meeting. Likewise, FENEGOSIDA delegation included Associate Vice President Pawan Kumar Somani, Treasurer Sudip Shrestha, Co-Treasurer Padma Sundar Shakya and others.
