109 expedition teams obtain climbing permits this spring

KATHMANDU: A total of 109 teams have obtained permits for mountaineering expeditions this spring season. According to the Department of Tourism (DoTM), Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the expedition teams have already started leaving for the climb attempts on 25 peaks and mountains. The expedition teams comprise 876 climbers from home and aboard. As per the Mountaineering Section, 302 people of 38 teams have obtained permits to climb Mt Everest (8848.86m) this spring season. Likewise, 97 of nine teams hold permits to climb Ama Dablam (6,814m). Similarly, four teams each will be attempting to scale the Annapurna (8,011m), Nuptse (7,861m), Makalu (8,463m) while two teams will attempt to climb Mt Dhaulagiri (8,167m). Likewise, one expedition team has a permit to climb Lhotse (8,516m). Four teams each are so far allowed to scale Himlung Peak and Thapa or Dhambus Peak. The DoTM so far collects Rs 448.94 million in royalty from the mountaineering permit. (With inputs from RSS) READ ALSO:
