Government making efforts to bring economy into rhythm: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the government is making maximum efforts to improve the economy. Addressing the 57th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Tuesday, PM Dahal said the government has the opportunity to solve the current crisis. "The government has focused on bringing the economy into a rhythm and accelerating it," he said and added that some positive signs have started to be seen recently. He said his third term is very challenging in terms of the overall economic situation of the country and he has taken this challenge as an opportunity. "Our economy was badly hit by the earthquake and Covid 19 pandemic and affected by political ups and downs and instability. The effects of the Russia-Ukraine war are still visible," he said and stressed that economic reform cannot be done without effective cooperation between the public and private sectors. He claimed that the foreign exchange reserves have reached an encouraging level adding that the remittance has improved and revenue collection has also shown a positive sign. PM Dahal said discussions are being held with different bodies of the government to reduce the interest rate. He stated that the private sector is playing a significant role in production, market management, job creation, growth of national income and the overall development of the country, and added that the government will fully support the private sector by creating an investment and business-friendly environment. On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal expressed his concern about the declining agricultural sector and the increasing import of agricultural products. READ ALSO:
