KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 15.56 billion for the forest and environment sector for the fiscal year 2023/24.
Tabling the new budget in the Federal Parliament today, Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat said that environmental balance will be maintained through the management of forests, biological diversity and watershed management.
Minister Mahat announced to ensure sustainable utilisation of forest resources and enterprise development to ensure its contribution to the national economy.
Likewise, conservation areas and community forests will be developed as eco-tourism destinations, the Finance Minister stated while reading out annual estimates of the government’s revenue and expenditure for the upcoming fiscal year.
Moreover, the Chure Conservation Master Plan will be implemented with the participation of federal, provincial and local levels through the President Chure Conservation Programme.
