Imports via Rasuwagadhi checkpoint halted

RASUWA: Imports via Rasuwgadhi checkpoint have been halted till local level elections take place. The elections will take place across the country on May 13. Rasuwa's Chief District Officer (CDO), Nabaraj Jaisi, said that the import of goods has been suspended as per the agreement between the officials in Nepal-China bordering area.  The vehicular movement via the checkpoint has been completely halted in view of the elections. According to the Border Security Post, readymade and hydro related goods were imported through 13 big trailers on Tuesday. The import was closed as per the regular process of closing movement through the international checkpoint 72 hours before the voting process. Information Officer at the Rasuwa Customs Office, Timure, Bharat Adhikari, shared that all customs checking processes except essential services have been postponed for a few days as most of the staff have been mobilised for elections.
