Local level election: Voting underway

KATHMANDU: Voting in the local level elections kicked off at all 753 units across the country simultaneously at 7:00 am today. Voting is underway in 21,955 polling centres fixed at 10,756 polling stations across the country and it will continue till 5:00 pm today. People will be electing a total of 35,221 representatives including mayors/chiefs and deputy mayors/deputy chiefs, ward chairs, Dalit women members, women members and open ward members through the election taking place for the second time since the country switched to a federal set-up. Photo: RSS[/caption] It may be noted that 390 candidates have been already elected unopposed in the election and it happened following the nomination registration of a single candidacy for the required post. According to the Election Commission Nepal, 65 political parties are taking part in the election though it had registered 79 parties for the election purposes. A total of 109,088 employees have been deputed in the election while the number of volunteers is 65,865 and the observers is 5,000. By RSS READ ALSO:
