Melamchi drinking water distribution areas and schedule

KATHMANDU: Melamchi Water Supply Project (MWSP) resumed the distribution of water in Kathmandu Valley on Sunday. Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), which is responsible for distributing water in the valley has a plan to supply 50 million litres of water pumped from Melamchi River in Sindhupalchok district. The water was supplied from just two KUKL branches at Mahankal Chaur and New Baneshwor yesterday and the distribution coverage will be extended gradually. It has been scheduled to distribute water from Mahankalchaur Panipokhari to the areas including Devkota Marg, Battisputali, Jaya Bageshwari, Chabahil, Siphal, Maligaun, Bishalnagar, Naxal, Maitidevi, Ghattekulo, Dillibazar, Charkhal, Kamaladi, Bagbazar, Inbahal, Jyatha, Bhotahiti, Kamalakshi, Baneshwor, Sinamangal, Milanchok, Sangamchok, new Road and Tripureshwor. The water will be distributed after every two days. Likewise, from Minbhawan-based water distribution, water will be distributed to Mid-Baneshwor, Milanchok, Thapagaun, Baneshwor Height, Subidhanagar, Sahayoginagar, HAMS Hospital area, Shantinagar, Gaihrigaun, International Convention Centre, Shankhamul, Kuriyagaun, Shreenagar, Prayagmarg and Napiheight. Similarly, water distribution has started from the Anamnagar-based water tank. Water will be distributed to Anamnagar, Ghattekulo, Bijulibazar and Maitighar daily. However, water from the tank will be distributed to Lagan, Dalakshi, Nayapachon, New Road and Tripureshwor area on alternate days starting. Likewise, water distribution also started from Khumaltar-based water tank on Sunday. It will distribute water to Dhobighat, Alka Hospital, Chapagaundobato, Lagankhel, Prayagpokhari, Kupondole, Jhamsikhel, Saraswati Mandir Chok, Mahalaxmisthan, Satdobato and Manbhawan on alternate days. Maharajgunj-based Panipokhari was scheduled to supply water from today. The Maharajgunj distribution centre will cover areas including Samakhusi, Dakshinkali Mandir, Ranidevi School, Lazimpat, Gaurighat, Naniganj, Maharajgunj Local Pump Market area, Baluwatar area.
