MoHP reports 21,584 active cases including 3,703 new ones

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday reported 21,584 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country including 3,703 new ones in 24 hours. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 849,204. Additionally, 933 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. Likewise, the MoHP has recorded four deaths from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Saturday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,617. Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 2,219 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 1,591 new cases, Lalitpur logged 486 cases and Bhaktapur logged 142 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP. As many as 350 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Saturday, a total of 816,003 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 96.1% while the case fatality rate is at 1.4%. Earlier, the MoHP on Friday had reported 4,204 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 845,501. Covid tests have been conducted on a total of 4991,672  samples as of Saturday. Presently, there are 21,584 persons staying in isolation while 126 others have been placed in quarantine in the country. Meanwhile, more than 321.79 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.87 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters.
