KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) reported 5,816 new cases of coronavirus infection on Thursday. With this, the Covid 19 count has reached 939,267. Additionally, 2,201 persons have tested positive for the infection in the antigen test. The number of active cases has reached 90,576.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 15 deaths from Covid 19 in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, the nationwide death toll from Covid 19 has reached 11,687.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have registered 3,145 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 2,404 new cases, Lalitpur logged 521 cases and Bhaktapur logged 220 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 5,292 patients of Covid 19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 837,004 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 89.1% while the case fatality rate is at 1.4%.
Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday had reported 5,571 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 933,451.
RT-PCR and antigen tests have been conducted on 15,736 and 6,072 samples respectively in 24 hours.
Presently, there are 90,576 persons staying in isolation while 149 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
Meanwhile, more than 359.28 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5.97 million people have died from Covid 19, Covid 19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that Covid 19 infections are still rising in 83 countries.
