KATHMANDU: Election Commission (EC) will have held federal and provincial elections by mid-December, according to Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya.

At a central-level review programme of the recently held local level election, Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya shared that it was the responsibility of the EC to hold the federal and provincial elections and they have yet to decide in this regard. Meanwhile, the EC is making preparation to hold the elections by mid-December.

It was unfortunate to count votes in the local election by building a barbed wire fencing, which Thapaliya said was due to security reasons.

Facilities given to employees during the polls were realistic, he said, adding that the EC has completed the review of local elections in all seven provinces.
