KATHMANDU: Galli Maps has won the Startup World Cup Nepal Regional 2023 crown.
Galli Maps is an app that can be used for finding locations by using the well-known 360 Street View. The house numbers can be located using the app and the users can also get accurate directions to the selected locations.
In the Nepal Edition of the Startup World Cup held on Thursday, Galli Maps won the crown beating all other startups.
Galli Maps became the best in the competition among the top ten startups across the country and the top five startups that participated from the province and municipality levels.
Startup Hub Nepal organised the competition for startups. Pegasus Tech Ventures, the fundraising company of the American satellite company SpaceX, has started the Startup World Cup. Startup World Cup is organised in developed countries. In Nepal, World Trade Group Nepal has introduced World Cup Nepal through its sister concern Startup Hub Nepal.
Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat inaugurated the third season of Startup World Cup Nepal Edition. Addressing the programme, Minister Mahat said that the government is always ready to promote startups and support their innovation. He said the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24 also addresses the concerns of startups.
At the programme, Startup Hub Nepal Chairman Shambhu Pokhrel and Pegasus Tech Ventures partner and Startup World Cup Nepal Regional 2023 Ambassador Cecilia Larasati presented the award to winner Raj Bikram Maharjan, CEO & Co-founder of Airlift Technologies which has introduced Galli Maps.
Galli maps, Quickfox consulting, Diyo AI, Aster Innovation, Kleanit upcyclers are among the best five startups that participated in the competition.
Winner Maharjan has got the opportunity to participate in the global competition in America's Silicon Valley, according to organisers. If the startup can become the world champion, it will get an investment prize of $1 million (Rs 130 million).
