KATHMANDU: Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) is hopeful that the new guidelines related to the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) will make trekking and mountaineering tourism in the country safer and more secure. Issuing a press statement on Saturday, TAAN President Nilhari Bastola said the association is confident that the new guidelines issued by the government to streamline TIMS will aid in making trekking and mountaineering tourism safer. TAAN has welcomed the move of the Nepal Tourism Board that issued the Guidelines on Management of TIMS-2079 that has come into effect from Saturday. The umbrella association of trekking agencies in the country further said that the new guideline would contribute to making the trekking sector more competitive, bolstering the confidence of tourism entrepreneurs thereby attracting more investment in mountaineering tourism and increasing employment opportunities consequently. The new guideline that introduces Nepal as a safe destination in the world tourism market will help increase mountaineering tourism's contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country, according to TAAN.
