BHAJANI: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said Tikapur Airport in Kailali district will be brought into operation soon.
During the on-site visit to the airport today, Minister Ale shred that a total of Rs 20 million has been allocated for the airport in the current fiscal year 2021/22.
Reaffirming his commitment to bringing the airport into operation very soon, Minister Ale said that the report to be prepared by the Study Committee will determine whether the airport could be operative at the old space or new one.
According to him, the construction work would commence this fiscal year. This project could be developed as a multi-year project and is inevitable for Tikapur area.
"Tikapur area is known for its tourism. It has high potential for tourism. We are committed to ensuring air connectivity to unleash that potentiality," said the Tourism Minister, sharing that Rs 1 billion was allocated for upgrading the Dhangadi Airport as regional Airport.
He said he was effortful to make sure each district has one air-ground. Minister Ale informed that coordination was underway with the World Bank to build a fast track from Dhangadhi Airport to New Delhi in India and leading up to Lake Manasarovar in Tibetan Autonomous Area in China. He also said a proposal seeking budget worth Rs 65 billion has been forwarded for the same.
