Volkswagen compact SUV Taigun unveiled

Kathmandu: Pooja International Nepal, the authorised importer for Volkswagen vehicles in Nepal, unveiled Volkswagen SUV Taigun in Kathmandu, on October 3. Ambassador for the Federal Republic of Germany to Nepal Thomas Prinz unveiled the new Taigun vehicles amid a press conference organised here. The new compact SUV Taigun is powered with a world-class 1.0 Litre Turbocharged engine that generates 114 HP and 178 NM Torque. The company claims the power and torque to be the highest in its category of compact SUVs available in Nepal. Volkswagen is renowned for its class-leading bigger SUVs all over the world. The Taigun is available in three variants. The introductory price of Taigun Comfortline is set at Rs 5.09 million while Taigun Highline and Taigun Topline have been set at Rs 6.39 million and Rs 6.99 million respectively. The name Taigun is derived from the forest Taiga in North America. Taigun is specifically designed for the local driving conditions of India and Nepal. Volkswagen has adapted its international MQB platform as MQB AO IN for the production of Taigun in India. This ensures that the durability and quality of Taigun are at par with its other international models popular all over the world. Taigun is a game changer SUV in this segment which hopes to redefine the world of compact SUVs in terms of durability, environmental friendliness and safety. These vehicles match the needs of customers who embrace modern technology and the changes that come along with it. With low entry prices, the company believes that customers can enjoy the fun-to-drive characteristics of Volkswagen cars embodied with 40+ safety features. The design of Taigun carries its global design language and lineage of its bigger siblings like Tiguan and Touareg. The Taigun is targeted at the dynamic individuals who want the best driving experience, be it in city, highway or off-road conditions. The front muscular grille is perfectly integrated with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). Higher ground clearance and long-wheelbase fit perfectly to roads in Nepal providing ground stability. Taigun can hit 0-100 Kmph in a matter of 9.1 seconds. The Taigun comes with a long list of modern amenities like a 10-inch infotainment system, full digital cluster, front ventilated seats, Hill assist control, Electric moonroof, Continuous LED tail light etc. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pooja International Nepal, Bibek Bijukchhe, during the press conference, highlighted, "The Taigun is built with over 40 active and passive safety features which are designed to protect the occupants of the car and also the people around our cars. Some of the active safety features which come with the car include tyre pressure deflation warning, reverse camera with sensors, electronic brake force distribution, hill hold control, three rear head restraints. The passive safety features include multi-collision brakes, a high strength steel structure, up to six airbags, three-point safety belts for all passengers among other features.” He said, “Most of these features are not visible and hence may not be talked about much but they are of utmost importance as they contribute to the safety of the occupants of the car. For instance, the multi-collision brakes actually stop the car after an impact and possibly prevent the passengers from any further damage in case of multiple collisions and rollovers.” Furthermore, in case of an unfortunate accident, high-strength steel structure which absorbs the maximum impact of the crash aids to the safety, he said and added, “Volkswagen thymes with TSI, the brand's pioneer technology for petrol engines that offers an incredible balance in terms of power responsiveness, acceleration, and fuel efficiency." Compared to its bulkier traditional engine, the compact TSI engine provides best of the mileage and power with the least harmful emission. The massive power from light engine size and higher torque at the lower band of RPM makes this engine highly responsive and fun-to-drive, binging a wide smile to its owner. CEO Bijukchhe further said, "The all-new SUV Taigun is inspired from the already popular SUV Volkswagen T-Cross which has a very strong fan base in the European and Chinese market. Though powered with 1.0 TSI engine, it has received all the special attributes that T cross has, which makes it a tried and tested vehicle with no compromise on Power, Performance, Safety and Comfort." For the introductory period, the Company will be providing free accessories and attractive cash discounts for the first 100 buyers on first come first priority basis. Taigun Carnival kicks off For easy access to the test drive of Taigun, this Dashain Festival, Pooja International Nepal has introduced “Volksfest SURPRISE”, a one-month carnival in 1 Durbar mall, Kingsway. The carnival that has been set to take place till the Tihar festival offers a chance to win BMW G310 GS, Suzuki Burgman Scooter, and Samsung Z Flip3. Interested buyers can avail tests on the spot, booking, finance, insurance, exchange facilities. Meanwhile, the Taigun Carnival kicked off at 1 Dubar Mall on October 4 with several exciting programs with fun games for kids and family. Volkswagen means "People's car" in German language. Volkswagen is a German automobile manufacturer with numerous brands under its group. Some of the brands under the group include Bentley, Skoda, Lamborghini, Audi, Bugatti, Se-at, Porsche, Scania, MAN. Volkswagen was originally founded on May 28, 1937, in Berlin, Germany by the Nazi trade union, the German Labor Front. The first model was the legendary Beetle introduced in 1937 AD. It has 136 production plants spread across 27 countries worldwide with daily production of 26,600 cars. The cars are exported to more than 150 countries. It was the largest producer of cars in the world for the past couple of years. Pooja International started its operation by opening a showroom at Panipokhari on September 10, 2010.
