KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has clinched victory in 196 local units in the local level election. The NC members clinched victory for the post of mayors in 56 municipalities and the post of chairpersons in 140 rural municipalities, as of 12:00 pm today, according to the election results made public.
As per the latest vote count update, NC is leading in 60 municipalities and 42 rural municipalities. Members of the party led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur have secured 48 posts of deputy mayor and 139 posts of vice-chairpersons.
Likewise, CPN (UML) led by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has clinched victory in the local level elections in 29 municipalities and 91 rural municipalities. UMl is leading in 45 municipalities and 30 rural municipalities in the ongoing vote count. UML has secured 33 deputy mayoral posts and 89 posts of vice-chairpersons.
Similarly, CPN Maoist Centre has achieved victory in 85 local units including 11 municipalities and 74 rural municipalities. Meanwhile, CPN MC is leading the vote count in 13 municipalities and 14 rural municipalities.
Until now, CPN MC has secured 16 deputy mayoral posts and 77 posts of vice-chairpersons.
CPN (Unified Socialists) has achieved victory in two municipalities. According to Election Commission, Nepal, CPN (US) is leading vote count at eight local units. Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal has secured the posts of chairpersons in fice rural municipalities.
