View tower construction not to be included in policies and programmes

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Urban Development has no plan to include the view tower and assembly hall construction in the policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2022/23. Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri said the construction of view towers and assembly hall will not be included in the policies and programmes. She opined that the construction of such infrastructures does not fit with the limitless responsibility of the state citing that there was no proper modality regarding this. However, she said 32 under-construction assembly halls being constructed by the ministry will be carried out. The urban minister also said unified settlement development programmes will be replaced by settlement development programmes. Minister Jhakri said the construction of Santhal settlement in Morang was put out to tender and the foundation stone was laid but it has not been completed yet. She blamed the previous government for carrying out such works without proper planning. READ ALSO:
