A A- A+
KATHMANDU: Accountability Lab has begun a three-day intensive in-person boot camp engaging five teams that were selected through the second ‘HackCorruption’, a hackathon, held in Kathmandu from April 27 to 30. The participating teams — e-PMS, DAAC, Support My School, PAK Zameen and KYP: Know Your Parliamentarian — comprise 22 innovators from Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. David Sada, Finance and Operations Manager, Accountability Lab Mexico, held learning sessions on 'Budgets and Milestones' and 'Unpacking your stakeholders' where participants learnt about the parameters set for the development and sustainability of their products. Members of a team were allowed to join another team.

The teams will receive financial support of up to $10,000 each in tranches which will help them build out their ideas and products, Sada said. This initiative is funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) under its Anti-corruption Solutions through Emerging Technologies (ASET) programme. According to Cheri-Leigh Erasmus, Global Director of Learning at the Accountability Lab, this initiative aims to build regional interconnected networks of technologists, activists and governance practitioners who work together to use technology to find uncommon solutions for corruption-related problems. "We hope to shift this by building diverse cohorts that can unpack and solve problems in a more nuanced and feasible way," she said and added, "Our hope is that this will lead to the adoption of some new technologies by civil society and the government." The boot camp being held at  Kathmandu Marriott Hotel will conclude on June 25. READ ALSO:
