Home Minister assures security for investment

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has pledged to provide security for the business investment. Inaugurating the sixth national general convention of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) on Sunday, Minister Khand said it was government's responsibility to encourage, promote and safeguard the business investment. "The state should honour the entrepreneurs for playing crucial roles in Nepal's economy," Minister Khand said. On the occasion, the Home Minister asked the transport entrepreneurs to be serious to reduce road accidents adding that thousands of people were losing their lives every year in road accidents. The transport sector should work to ensure safety of this field adding that the government was serious to address the problems faced by transport entrepreneurs, the Home Minister said. Minister Khand also admitted that Acts, rules and laws needed for the reforms in the transport sector could not be amended following the disruption in the parliament meeting. Also speaking at the event, Transport Minister of Gandaki Province, Kumar Khadka, said the state should keep this sector in special priority as road network and transport sector were the key basis for the country's development. Likewise, Transport Minister of Bagmati Province, Ghanshyam Dahal, Transport Minister of Province 1, Upendra Prasad Ghimire and Transport Minister of Lumbini Province, Dega Magar, argued that the government and entrepreneurs should jointly address the concerns of the transport sector.
