US Under Secretary Uzra Zeya calls on Home Minister

KATHMANDU: A delegation led by US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, and Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, Uzra Zeya, held a courtesy meeting with Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand today. In the meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs at Singha Durbar, discussions were held on Nepal-US relations and various issues of mutual interest, the Home Minister's secretariat said. Also discussed were the issues of bilateral development cooperation and relations on the occasion of 75 years of Nepal-US diplomatic ties. During the meeting, Minister Khand thanked the US Envoy for the assistance in the post-earthquake reconstruction, and Covid 19 control and prevention. Stating that Nepal was committed to the security sensitivities of Nepal's neighbouring countries India and China, Khand praised the US role played for freedom, human rights and democracy. Minister Khand also expressed gratitude to the US government for supporting the third country resettlement of Bhutanese refugees from Nepal. Likewise, US Undersecretary Zeya thanked the Government of Nepal for ratifying the US grant assistance MCC from the parliament and moving towards development path and poverty alleviation. Earlier today, the US Envoy separately paid courtesy call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka. (With inputs from RSS) READ ALSO:
